Fried calamari is a no. It’s fried I’m cornmeal and was not crispy at all. Wedge was good, fries were also not done enough.
Our server was great, it was difficult to enjoy the outdoor seating due to the amount of homeless people approaching us.
Best restaurant food and experience I have been had. From the atmosphere to the service to every course, it was phenomenal. The candied bacon was amazing and my wife said she had no idea that steak (medium filet mignon) could taste so good! We never had an empty glass and each course was timed out perfectly so we never felt rushed nor were we having to wait too long.
What is better than a tempting restaurant based on the menu, which is also strategically located to your hotel? Then Cache will be.
We started with their version of Old Fashioned mixed with Sarsaparilla, that gives a nice kick at every sip.
To start, a homemade bun with honey butter glaze accompanied by two samples of flavored beurre monté.
My colleague opted for a “Surf&turf” of NY strip and blackened shrimps with sides of loaded (dinosaur side) potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I chose Tuscany chicken, which started a debate inside me.
On the positive side, overall the components of the dishes were perfectly cooked. The chicken cutlets (or better paillard) were beautifully crusted and crispy, the meat was not dried up and well flavored. Pasta was cooked Italian approved and the creamy Chardonnay sauce with the hint of rosemary was the perfect complement to them.
On the flipside, I would have appreciated a thicker cut of chicken and more of spinach and sun dried tomatoes, which were nothing more than a garnish. But these are personal preferences which do not take away anything from the overall goodness of the dish.
Perfect ending, an espresso with a layer of foam on top(not milk foam) which I have seen on the best cappuccino in Italy.
Positive notes on the staff too, from the lady at the entrance to our server.
Price-wise I would say that, considering the type of venue and the dishes, they are average.
I will definitely come back.
They made my solo birthday trip special.🥰 I just walked into this restaurant right off the street without a reservation, because a waited for my food at another restaurant for 30 minutes with being served.
The service was top notch and the staff was very attentive. Everyone came and checked on me and provided recommendations around the city. My waitress recommended the pork shank and it was delicious.
A first time for everything. I will be back.
I always try to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. If something is wrong, they will make it right…Most of the time! That wasn’t true in this case. Let me start by saying the food was mediocre and THATS OKAY. I ordered the Filet & Calamari. Wife ordered Salmon & Caprese.
The Calamari has a little spicy kick, battered with cornmeal & was plentiful but not really flavorful despite the spices. My mashed potatoes, I’m pretty sure are instant and that’s okay. They taste like boxed mashed potatoes and I like those but these were bland. The green beans tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. The filet, I ordered medium rare; it was over cooked. The waiter recognized it was over cooked and asked if I wanted it remade. I’m not a complainer kinda person so I said I’d stick with it. Plus I didn’t want to wait 30 more minutes for a steak. Well, I was wrong in not asking for it to be remade. THE FLAVOR OF THE STEAK WAS FANTASTIC, on the outside. The inside was like roast beef.🤢 Wife’s salmon was good. Caprese, the same.
On my 2nd bite of my steak, I told the waiter that I’m not going to eat it. (I SHOULD HAVE RETURNED IT AT THE BEGINNING) I did eat about 1/2 the mashed potatoes, all of the green beans, & 1/2 the calamari. Wife ate all of hers. The waiter offered dessert on the house for my steak but we already had dessert plans. Very kind but not a replacement for the $60 filet.
We get the $150 bill and I’m kind of shocked. There was a recognized issue with the steak that I didn’t request be recooked. Most restaurants would compensate part of it & most would remove it. I had to ask if there was some sort of compromise and 15% was given. So roughly $18. I guess that covers the tip but the sincerity or integrity was missing.
This was my first time eating there and it was a celebration. We just found out fantastic news and it was my birthday. One of which I will not forget my disappointment on a greatly anticipated meal.
I wasn’t asking for a free meal and would gladly pay more had it met my expectations. I would have paid more had they TRIED to ensure my satisfaction on the main course.
With all of this said, the atmosphere was great, staff was hospitable, food presentation was fantastic, and IF you have a problem with the food, send it back immediately or just leave then bc you will be expected to pay full price whether you eat part or none. (update - pending return - the restaurant has offered to compensate because they can do better...& I believe they can also)
