Capital Hotel

This hotel is world class. Elegant, tasteful décor in the public areas and private rooms.
Our room had 12-14 foot ceilings with beautiful drapes, the king bed quite comfortable and plenty of coffee pods.
Everything was pristine.
The bar & grill had lovely service. The dinner menu was brief but good. I really enjoyed my 3 night stay.

We always stay at the Capital Hotel when in Arkansas visiting family. We’ve seen it pre-COVID, immediately post COVID, and now. it’s still the same grand hotel, but in need of some investment to bring it up to standards. The staff was, as always, friendly, wonderful and most helpful. I think the bedding in the rooms is getting a little bit tired, but all in all, it’s a wonderful property.

The biggest disappointment this stay was the food. We always look forward to eating in the bar and grill, but honestly, the food tasted like it had come out of the freezer. I’m not sure how the food is being prepared but when you ask for a hamburger medium well and it comes out cold in the middle, you know something weird is going on. Same for the crabcakes. The fried green tomatoes were a disaster, gooey in the middle. This is decidedly different from any other time that we have dined there. We aren’t sure that we will give the Bar another try sad to say.

Across the hall, breakfast was not much better. Thankfully, there are some pretty good food options within an easy three block walk. If we do choose to return to the Capital Hotel, it will be because of the wonderful memories that we have had there. But it certainly won’t be because we’re looking forward to dining at any of the hotel restaurants!

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel because we were attending a conference. The hotel is beautifully appointed, the rooms are lovely, the staff is friendly, and it’s a convenient location.

We ate dinner in the restaurant our first night. We were hoping to find a local restaurant, but we quickly discovered that most things are closed on a Sunday in Arkansas. Anyways, the food at the restaurant was very good, and service was wonderful.

The one negative is that the hotel does not offer any type of transportation to or from the airport.

Coming from the airport we were able to hop on a shuttle. Getting to the airport at 4:30 in the morning seems to be a bit trickier. When we inquired at the hotel, they told us that the person who they normally call for transportation broke his leg, would not be working for several weeks, and that we should “just call an Uber”.

We were able to get an Uber, and everything worked out fine, but it was a bit stressful because we had to wait until the morning that we were leaving to secure a ride.
It’s a lovely hotel, but the lack of transportation was a disappointment. We noticed that all the other hotels offered dependable shuttle service to and from the airport.

Outstanding Hotel! First we were met out front by Billy, he went well above and beyond to make sure me, my wife, and our luggage made it to our room and set up for us. Everything about this hotel is wonderful, first time in a long time we felt at home away from home. All of the service was outstanding, History is amazing, entire property is very palatial. Matt served us at the front desk upon our arrival and departure, always smiling and willing to accommodate our every need. Matt also assisted me with some items we accidentally left behind, once I contacted him he took ownership of my problem and made sure our items were shipped to my office. We actually shared an elevator ride on the second night with a very prominent actor/star that stays there quite frequently. Overall, I could not have asked for a more pleasant experience. We will be back!!
