Zam Zam is one of the best Mediterranean spots in all of Little Rock! Yes, they are small and there is no waiter (just ring the bell at the order window and Giovanni will take your order, cook it perfectly and bring it to your table) but the quality and taste of the food makes up for anything they lack. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable and the customer service is good. I had the beef kabobs with rice and vegetables and it was delicious! My only complaint is that they aren't open longer hours.
Today's special was chicken Biryani. It was almost eleven dollars but it's food for two, or a meal and a half! I found this restaurant by happenstance and decided to take a chance. There wasn't a waiter here, just the chef and the owner who was at the register but I just had to tell somebody what I wanted and I could pay for my groceries and restaurant food together at the register. I ordered my food and expected to wait. There was a man sitting and waiting for his food as well. It felt like it was only two minutes before the owner comes out of the kitchen with my food and it was huge! He already had it ready to go. It smelled so good that I decided to eat in the car and, wow, it was delicious! I asked for the spicy version, which I found somewhat mild but it was less than a half dozen tasty peppers that I didn't recognize. They're small and full of flavor. The entire dish was full of unique flavors from coriander leaf, to mint, to what may have been pickled peppers, and probably a hint of Asafoetida (it is similar to onions but the dish does not have any onions, according to the owner). I should mention that the other guest opened up and shared his opinion of the restaurant giving it high praise. He said I'd be delighted with the food and he was correct. Overall, my experience here was very good and I look forward to ordering again!
Wow. What a find. Super tasty food and very friendly people that run this place. Will absolutely come back... soon.
They are in the process of remodeling so it was a bit hard to find the entrance. Right now you need to go through the store that is connected instead of come directly in from the parking lot.
