Shakewell

Having seen Shakewell was participating in Restaurant week, I was excited to make a reservation. It’s been on my radar for awhile. It didn’t quite meet our expectations. Upon entering, you immediately notice the decibel level is extremely high. For those looking for a quiet romantic dinner, this definitely not your place. Tables are in tight proximity so the conversations of others will be part of your dining experience. Now, on to the food. We ordered the octopus, fried olives and papas bravas. Everything was well seasoned and came out quickly.

I've been to this tapas-style restaurant twice in the last month. Once for dinner and once for lunch. It was excellent both times. The menu was interesting and fresh and the food was excellent- from Spanish Octopus to an Arugula salad. Our servers both times were highly attentive even though they were plenty busy, eyes always sweeping their tables to spot a drink that needed refilling, etc. This is a neighborhood kind of place on Lakeshore at the foot of Trestle Glen - but with a fairly cosmopolitan (yet not pretentious) feel to it. I would highly recommend it as a new place to try in Oakland. And then to come back again and again.

Great bartenders and staff. Good portion food and pleasant atmosphere.

I would definitely recommend. I was there for happy and dinner.

Reservations can be made online. We got one on for the same day. Service is very good. I love the whole cooked fish but they always have good options, beef , lamb, very nice veggies and salads. I live the cocktail menu and the spirits menu. This is a pricey place with good service, and worth it when you want to treat yourself
