Very very good Naan. It was fluffy and hot, the size of a plate for only $1.
The food was actually spicy and had a decent quantity for the price! I was struggling to find a good place for Indian food and naan n curry will definitely be my go to now. Although I did order chicken biryani and received mutton instead ; this was not a problem for me but I can see this being an issue for others. All in all, good prices and good food.
I love tikka masala and garlic naan. I have tried these items at many Indian restaurants, on both the east and west coasts. Until eating here, the recipes, quality, and tastes have been pretty consistent--and always quite good. But at Naan n Curry, the tikka masala was thin and watery instead of thick. And the spices in the sauce tasted almost like black pepper. The amount of paneer was also minimal (5 pieces). The garlic on the naan tasted and looked like the moist minced garlic that you can buy in a jar at major supermarkets, and the bread looked greasy. At other establishments I have frequented, the garlic looks and tastes fresh, and the bread itself is pretty dry. Usually, I over-stuff myself in paneer tikka masala and naan; but this time, I ate enough to feel somewhat full and tossed the leftovers. The inside of the restaurant is nice, and the staff are friendly. The location is also pretty convenient for those working in downtown Oakland.
