“Popular outdoor hangout with excellent coffee beans. Locals swear by this being the best of the four nearby. Not a lapbook insight!”

“Omg. Omg. Omg. YUM. Saffron Kitchen will be on a regular rotation for me going forward. I've only had Afghani food once or twice, but this is another level. The menu has plenty of options but they all fit onto one page; I am not a fan of menus that go on for 3-4 pages. Also, there are many beverage choices, and their cocktails are pretty good. The steamed dumplings - the Mantu - was heavenly. I am a discerning Chinese dumpling eater, and I was over the moon with every bite of this dish. I had to refrain from licking the plate. Of course, we had to have lamb, and we struggled to decide because there were so many options. We landed on the lamb kabob; my friend and I kept cutting the lamb into smaller and smaller pieces so we could have more and more bites to savor. Then we had a veggie sampler because we couldn't decide which veggie we wanted. We got to taste the eggplant, the spinach, and the butternut squash. Everything was great, but the butternut squash shined. The restaurant has so many beautiful spaces to dine. First, a fancy parklet and patio area set a level below the street for those who want to dine outside in the fresh air. Inside, there is a main dining section that is cozy and comfortable, with a decent bar. There also is a pretty stunning private dining room. The service was the highlight. Our server was extremely attentive, and other wait staff checked in on us. If you're not familiar with Afghan food, the staff will be more than delighted to explain it to you. You'll be missing out if you don't try it! Finally, the prices are incredibly reasonable for what they offer you. What a welcome addition to the community.”

“I had the jerk chicken plate. The chicken was amazing! Spicy and grilled perfectly. The sides are so good too! My friend had the curried goat and loved it.”

“DoorDash order, got paneer kadai, butter paneer, and a mango lassi. The kadai was overly salted and lacked onion. Overall food was okay.”

“Tried Flavas Jamaican Grill (Oakland) for the first time (via UberEats) a couple of days ago and have since ordered twice! I was very impressed by the flavor, presentation and sustainable packaging — the food travels well. I ordered the Jerk Chicken wings (with jerk sauce on the side), Rice & Beans (peas), Codfish Fritters, Plantains, and Mac n Cheese and everything was delicious… consistent to taste. A part of my family line is Jamaican and even though I didn’t grow up in the culture, there’s definitely a sense of “home” and comfort while eating my fritters, and especially the plantains, and rice & peas. Followed up with a Ting! Touched my heart! The only item I wasn’t a fan of was the Jamaican patty from my first order. It was a nice size, but the meat filling was a tad underwhelming (visually/texture wise) compared to Jamaican Patties with beef I’ve tried in the past. I may try again because I’ve seen review photos that look more promising. Overall all, I enjoyed my meals and am a satisfied customer.”

“$50 on uber eats. It's like a piece of **** white castle burger that had a birth defect made by a ??? that had to sit on it and press it down to wrap it. I seriously hope i don't get a venereal disease by looking at this thing. Thank god uber was convinced by the picture that a FULL REFUND was adequate compensation for trusting this fool of a company with my needs for a Philly cheesesteak. I've never had a better culinary experience in my life.”

“Best carnitas I've ever had in my life. Tacos, sides, vibe, and value all 10/10. You can get either meat only or "mixed" with other parts of the pork chopped in - they are both good but I think mixed is more special. Tacos were $3.”

“We were in a hurry and they whipped out a veggie pizza for us in less than 10 minutes. It was yummy! Maybe a bit salty but the flavors were rich and hearty. We will return for their milkshakes (which weren’t on the menu!).”

“New spot and it’s so good! Their grilled pork is amazing and very tender. Perfect in the broken rice plates and vermicelli bowls. The pho broth is rich and flavorful and super fragrant - it’s not too overpowering and is a perfect balance. The banh mi is also delicious, the bread is a perfect combo of soft and crunchy. Will definitely be a regular here!”

I’ve never had tameles salvadoreños like the ones at Papá Chicos, their masa melts in your mouth! I honestly recommend everything on their menu!”

“Authentic Cambodian street food. Ordered papaya salad with the right level of spiciness, beef stick over rice, and prahok k'tiss that came with a variety of raw veggies. They ran out of salaw machew kreung (soup) by the time we got there (2:30pm). The Cambodian coffee was a bit too sweet, but once the ice melted -perfection.”

“So disappointed. Followed this restaurant on IG and finally made our way from Central Valley to Oakland. Such a disappointment. We ordered 3 plates- oxtails, wings & shrimp, and fish and shrimp. All sides were Mac & Cheese and candied yams. They weren’t worth the prices at all. The yams had entirely too much nutmeg and what tastes like cardamon - very interesting taste. The Mac wasn’t it at all. Gritty and not at all what we expected or hoped. The wing flavor was good, but the skin was chewy. Oxtails were decent- but would still get them from back-a-yard (better price and flavor). Those definitely weren’t worth & $35. The kids liked the fish and shrimp. Probably wouldn’t visit again, but proud of the growth. My opinion is just that. Glad we got to try it, but upset we spent $96.xx and literally couldn’t finish half of it.”
