The new restaurant provides bento box lunches with very good portions, pretty good tastes and a very reasonable price. $16 for 3 dishes w/ rice (or $2 off w/o the rice).
They also have many steamed buns and braised meat to choose from.
The best place you can get fresh tofu, soy milk, buns, dumplings with decent price.
First time dining here. Tables were available, but we felt like we were sitting too closely to other diners, which made us uncomfortable. Portions could be a bit more generous, requested no MSG but got a headache after our meal so difficult to know the cause. On the bright side, veggies were nicely cooked, just crisp enough. Server was polite, not chatty, which is fine. Sauces were flavorful, but not overly salty. We'll go back.
Smoked chicken legs are delicious and cheap, beef tendons are delicious but expensive, pig trotters are small and salty, and the large intestine has too much odor. Meat cabbage buns are delicious. The stir-fried dishes on the menu are expensive and small in size and taste average. The waiters never smile, can't help but make me worry about their mental health, not very friendly, but it's okay.
This is a restaurant with multiple locations in the Bay Area that does take out Chinese food and is also a retail front for China Tofu, a local tofu factory from Hayward. I usually come here to buy fresh tofu and other more specific soy products (which are better than what you can get at asian groceries). They do sell a nice assortment of pre-made dishes (cold and hot) but their made-to-order menu is also decent. This is authentic Chinese food in terms of style also - not necessarily the most delicate but rated 5 stars for what it intends to be.
