Fifth Wheel Food

Old establishment under new management, about a year now I think. It's right off of San Leandro boulevard kind of hard to find a place to park unless you use the bank's parking lot right by San Leandro Creek. I enjoyed breakfast there they serve grits. (Yes)! I'm going back for their Korean barbecue.

Been going to this place since I was a lil boy. It was soooo nice and nostalgic bringing my daughter her. I hope this place is open for 100 more years. Their chicken apple sausage.......the taste hasn't changed in the 30 years I been living. Everything is fire????. Yes the dining area is small and you will have to wait on a Saturday or Sunday. (WORTH THE WAIT).

Pretty small place inside; the ambiance was quite ordinary. Expected a lot from this place as it always had a line outside. Overall, food was not bad; I liked how they had specialty sausage/meat options that are rare to find in other diners. But portion sizes were not that filling. I honestly think you can get better bang for your buck at other diners.

The breakfast was fabulous. Eggs were over easy as I asked, bacon was crisp and thick and consisted of 4 generous slices. The pancakes were phenomenal and optimally sized. Hence I’m glad I asked for 3. My coffee was acceptable. So why not 5 stars? Because when she came by to ask if I’d like more coffee, I asked whether she might pour it in a cup to go (as I ask everywhere I go). This was the first time a server paused to say that would cost an extra dollar. So I asked if she would simply bring me a cup and I’d pour the rest of my coffee into it ????????‍♂️. She brought the cup. I still left a tip for the wonderful meal but no 5 stars!

Fast service, tiny little hole-in-the-wall breakfast spot with some lunch options as well. Menu is pretty standard breakfast foods: eggs, sausage, pancakes, omelettes. Owners are very nice and attentive. Not a lot of seating or parking. Food was pretty good, though the grits were not great.
