Fatapple's El Cerrito Restaurant and Bakery

Really friendly staff and fast service! Also love their olallieberry pie! I have friends who take a 20 min drive just to get some of the pie.

Came here because it was close and the reviews were good, however I did not have a four or five star experience. Eggs were fine, potatoes okay. Asked for hot chocolate with whipped cream. Not tasty and instead of cream it was some kind of froth, but definitely not whipped cream. Was done with my plate when the apple pancake came out without syrup and wasn’t very sweet. I wanted to ask for syrup but the waitress literally whisked by so fast I was unable to grab her attention. I was done before she came around again. I’ve never seen a waitress that hyper, ever. She was nice enough, though, just in too much of a hurry. Decent place that’s evidently typically better than what I experienced, but it is what it is.

Great neighborhood place, good selection and really good food. Great service too. Our family we were visiting, who live nearby, texted us to bring them home some bakery goods. Very diverse crowd eating there too, which I like. But hey, that's California.

This is the ‘mother ship’ of the two Fatapple’s in the East Bay. The other is on Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Berkeley. The El Cerrito store is where the central baking occurs - so if you’re looking for seasonal pies which usually run out in the Berkeley store, you should start here.

Good solid cafe food - not spectacular but you can get a good meal here whether it’s soup, salad, burgers, pasta dish, quiche. Portions are generous.

Love their seasonal fruit pies and pastries especially in the summer - peach, raspberry, apricot/plum, etc. Have always liked their cheese puffs; the addition of the blueberry crumb cake is nice, a change from the blueberry muffin.

Service is friendly and usually efficient.
