Great food and friendly staff! I highly recommend the churros.
I'm not an expert in Peruvian food but as a novice I wasn't blown away with the flavors I tasted. The menu had a good mix of meat and seafood and one vegetarian item. I had ceviche, baby spinach and the fresh fish of the day, swordfish. The flavors we interesting and new to me, maybe that's the biggest biggest appeal for Barranco, but I doubt I will return. Most menu items were in the high $20's. The decor was wood and metal, benches and wood chairs to sit on, sort of a fancy Chipotle. The service was mediocre and slow. My wine glass was empty through the whole meal before a server asked if I wanted more.
My son spilled his strawberry lemonade. The manager gladly gave him a new one for free, and asked my daughter if she would want another one (for free). My daughter said no. But he brought both of them new lemonade! Great food. Great hospitality.
The food portions were reasonable for the price (larger portions than expected). Some of the food was great and othees so-so (some dishes needed salt so it seemed like the chef didn't taste before serving). Service was generally very good given the crowd. The noise level is reasonable but sometimes could get loud. There's a separate bar area to hang out if you're waiting for your table to be ready. Reservations are recommended. Parking is street only but seemed as pretty easy to find a spot for a Saturday night.
The Chicken Empanadas was delicious. My salmon was good. My wife's pork entree was cold in the center and had to be sent back. The sangria was okay. 2 people was $98 including tip, so a bit on the pricey side.
