Delicious Indian food at a great location. The staff were very welcoming and professional, and the atmosphere is great. I had the dosa, which I highly recommend. It was spicy but not too much. Very well-balanced flavors and beautiful presentation. Lots of vegetarian and meat options, good wine selection, and a few good beers on tap. This place is relatively new, so I hadn't had a chance to try it before. I will definitely be returning. Very convenient location in Orinda Theatre Square, with a parking garage and usually ample street parking nearby. Also accessible by BART, just a short walk from Orinda Station.
Great restaurant. The staff & Owner went out of their way to make Valentine's Day special for diners. Good food, great place - we will definitely come again and again.
I’m giving my honest, real review here. First off, I’ve been to many Indian restaurants—Many. So here it goes...Im giving it 3-stars only because the ambience is great. The staff is great too. The food? Well let’s just say I’ve had better, more authentic Indian cuisine at other places. Their food is mediocre. The samosas I had were doughy. They asked if I wanted the dishes I ordered to be spicy or mild...I asked for it to be spicy. Food came out mild. So disappointed. I told them about it and they said, yes-they made it spicy. Their dishes remind me of a store-bought Indian cuisine in packets that you buy from Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. What’s my overall experience? Well let’s just say I left the restaurant craving for a real, authentic Indian food. The Saffron restaurant to me is like the Olive Garden of an Italian cuisine. They serve Italian food, but not entirely authentic Italian food. Get it?
This has to be some of the best food I have had in quite a while. Friendly and helpful cheery staff too. It wasn't just one dish that was great. The chicken, the drinks, the specialty rice, even the naan we're all really good. Our group all ate untill everyone couldn't eat anymore. Seriously consider eating here, it's worth it.
Excellent food and service. I just got home from here, and felt compelled to write a positive review. The food was awesome. I ordered the lamb and mushrooms extra spicy, and they nailed it. Just the right amount of spice considering the order. The chef is visible from the bar and it is a great bit of entertainment watching the workings of food preparation. I highly recommend hanging out at the bar for a beer after your meal to view the mastery that goes into the food preparation. All said, you must try this place!
