Love the openness of the restaurant. Enjoy sitting at the bar and watching all the action. Spring rolls, ribs and Pot de creme are some of our favorites. They just added pork chop with the belly. Large portion.Food is fresh with quick service. Glad we have a new addition to the eastbay

    Noisy, overpriced and disappointing service.

We made a reservation well in advance in Open Table for a Thursday evening to celebrate the hub’s birthday with our kids. Since they are only open for dinner (Wed-Sun) it was not surprising that the place was pretty crowded. It had an “after work drink” vibe and a business dinner type crowd.

We were seated quickly even though we were 15min early. Got a table on the outer border with the bench on one side and noticed the tables were tight in between, luckily there wasn’t a pair seated next to us. Water cups were filled and we waited to be greeted.... and waited some more.

One would think that if we are going to spend at least $60pp that the service would be very attentive. After seeing our server help the big table next to us a few times without acknowledging our table once, I had to ask the one refilling the waters to find us our server. The person who originally sat us ended up asking for our orders (without writing down anything). I really found it odd that once our assigned server came, she did not apologize for being delayed nor greet us to see if this was our first time dining here and if we were celebrating something special. She just asked us to confirm our order since she wasn’t exactly sure if she heard it all from the other person. Big disappointment.

Our 3 small plates came out fairly quickly: Spring Rolls (not worth it), shrimp chive dumpling (3) and spare ribs (5) came a bit later. Nothing unique about them so we could’ve ordered other items out of the norm. Main dishes were the shaking beef, pork belly, caramelized shrimp and the black cod. All were good and tasty but we would’ve liked to eat more but didn’t want to order more of course. We especially liked the pork belly paired with the pickles and peppers. I thought we ordered a fair variety of dishes but thinking back, I don’t recall any particular standout dish. In my opinion, their price point for food is honestly high considering the quantity, presentation and service. We were quite curious to try this new location since we dined at their SF restaurant more than 10 years ago. We knew we’d be paying for upscale Vietnamese food (husband is totally biased since he’s Vietnamese) but we both agreed after our meal there we’d only return for a really special occasion to try different items. Spending $250+ for 4 and still feeling hungry after just doesn’t work for my family - most likely not a place I’d take my in-laws to.

As a fan of the San Francisco location my friends and I were anxious to try the new one at San Ramon. While the food was wonderful, and the servers totally adept and gracious, we were all (6 of us) surprised by the noise level! We could not hold a conversation.... while some people love the activity, not being able to converse defeats the fun of our gathering.

An incredible new restaurant at city center. The layout is fantastic and the open kitchen is a blast to observe. Seems like it would be great for parties of all sizes. We will be going back very soon!

Very interesting restaurant. Great service - once we were seated. Good food. Make a reservation. It's fairly busy!
