Wow. I really liked this place. It's a hole in the wall so don't expect much as far as the location. I had Huaraches which is not on the menu and damn it was good.
Fantastic service and food! Priced right and the best empanadas ever!
This is a really solid California taqueria that's a comfortable driving distance from Reno. We ordered a variety of menu items for five people and everything was very good. The food reminded me of my favorite places back home in Sacramento.
Traditional Mexican fare with good honest quality & service with a wide range of choices. I love their warm Shrimp Cocktail Wonderful. However their Catering Menu is also great I have had them Cater for a Surprise Birthday a luncheon including a very Volorful Mexican Cake. Which all went down perfectly!!!
There are a lot of great Mexican food places in Lake Tahoe. For that reason I have to give La Promesa only three stars simply because of its competition. The food is good, the prices a bit higher then it's competition, and portions, like most Mexican food, is generous. What keeps this from getting four stars or more is the food isn't much better than its competition, but being tucked away in a shopping center and the indoor seating being plastic molded seats, prevent this from getting more than three stars in my opinion. It is known for its sweets, but since I did not have any, nor am I a sweet guy, haha, I cannot comment on that.
