We found this little gem off the main drag in the woods.
Restaurant is part of the hotel and is quite high end.
Patio has heaters and was quite cozy.
Food was delicious, my wife had the cheeseburger and I had the salmon which was almost baked perfectly. (Seemed the salmon was a bit under cooked, however it was still delicious)
We ordered a nice bottle of wine and had a wonderful time.
Great restaurant close to Harveys for dinner.
I want to start by saying the restaurant options in Tahoe aren’t the best, but this place is one of a few that I would recommend and revisit. It’s not the easiest to find, I got some help along the way from a couple who had just left. It’s inside the desolation hotel on the top floor (you have to go up a couple flights of stairs/elevator to get there). The restaurant is quaint and has a trendy feel to it. I would recommend reservations, but they also take walk ins. The staff was phenomenal, helpful with suggestions, personable and polite. The meal was well paced, I ordered the Tuna crudo, filet mignon, and the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. The filet was my favorite, it was cooked to perfection, tender, and a filling portion. Maggie’s is a much needed and very welcome addition to the dining scene in Tahoe. I look forward to another visit next time I’m in the area.
It was OK. The french toast was soggy and the pork belly was bland. The potatoes and expresso drinks were good. We were seated and ignored for a long time until the food arrived and then ignored again until the check. Coming from Miami and spending half of the time traveling we have high expectations, this was a disappointment. There are far better local places.
Here's the scoop. This is an unassuming small restaurant in the old motel neighborhood steps from the casinos. The third-floor deck is set among the trees including one in the middle of the deck and the small indoor dining and bar area is inviting and cozy with a TV to watch sports.
The food is hands down Master Chef in both taste and presentation. Best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Light but very crisp coating with slight faint pink in the middle so cooked perfectly and not overly seasoned and too salty. Most every other place over breads or overcooks their chicken sandwich. I could go on about other food I tried but safe to say I doubt there is anything on the menu here that is not excellent.
Be sure to make a reservation due to the limited capacity except on the weekends they only take dinner reservations so breakfast and lunch are first come first serve.
This may seem pricey given the low-key surrounding area and casual environment. So not for those on a tight budget otherwise for foodies you more or less get what you pay for here given this is a tourist destination.
Awesome experience here. We got sat right away. Food was great. Staff was attentive. Atmosphere was also really good. We ordered the clams as the starter, Chilaquiles, and the Chicken Fried Pork Belly. All were delicious. Looking forward to coming back.
