Humboldt Bay Bistro

Lovely dinner out with my coworkers! Everything was so good the bread was fresh out of the oven. I had the halibut special my friends had steak and lamb. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. Thank you it was so nice to go out and have excellent food and drinks 🍹

Our server and host were great with a great attitude. View was pretty! Seating area, bathrooms, entrance, all very clean and welcoming.

The food presentation was nice, but prep and delivery was very very slow.

The food was okay. The best thing I tried was the lamb chops and the raw Kumamotos, both very tasty. (What can go wrong with raw oysters?) Clam chowder in a bread bowl and the Spinach salad were both tasty.

The calamari, the escargot, the fish n chips, the fish, the chicken added to the salad, kids butter pasta, blackberry mojito all just okay.

My wife and I were staying in Humboldt county for a week for an anniversary trip. We ended up eating here twice during that trip.

The first time we just walked in without a reservation, the host was very nice and explained we may not be able to sit without a reservation as they were pretty booked up. Alas, they ended up finding a server with a spot for us. We had a nice seat overlooking the bay.

The second time, we did make a reservation (over the phone - I left a voicemail before business hours - they called back promptly when they opened). We were seated immediately.

During both trips, our service was delightful. The food was tremendous. My wife is gluten free and dairy free and they made all accommodations very happily. The cocktails were great, strong but delicious. The fish and chips is something special. My wife had the duck which she raved over.

On our second visit we both ordered the special which was a salmon filet over rice and vegetables with a pineapple chutney on top. It was so amazing....I'd highly recommend getting whatever the special is. Those chefs know what they're doing.

We will be back next time we're in Eureka.

The food was adequate. Took forever for someone to take our order. Called to do a to go before i came. Was on hold for 6 minutes. Made it to the restaurant before my order was taken. When we got there it took another 10 minutes to get the order. Asked for our french onion soup while we waited for our food. Have my pregnant wife a literal cup of broth with no bread and or cheese. We had to point that out. Good thing we got it ahead of time. That would have been messed up if we had gone home. When they get busy the service really goes down. Lots of mistakes. Also, I added an updated menu so people can see the correct prices. Side bote: if you order a soup with your meal such as french onion there is a $3 up charge, even though soup or salad comes with you meal. They do NOT tell you this. You find out when the bill comes.

This establishment has the best food I’ve ever had. My husband and I went there for our 17 year anniversary and we were behind impressed. Between the ambiance and the quality of the food we will never forget this special day! Not to mention the waitress was absolutely phenomenal. Will definitely be back.
