Mexicali has been a Bakersfield tradition for generations. Delicious food. Wonderful staff. A beautiful restaurant. We've never been disappointed. Very highly recommended.
Classic Mexican cuisine surrounded by colorful Mexican styling. The menu is very large with choices that will make even the most discerning people happy. Not long ago they had 2 restaurants and as I understand it the owners decided to downsize to have more time for family.
I also wanted to mention the margaritas. Frozen or on ice are great!
Cheeseburger in Paradise! Sure the Mexican food is good, but the secret is the variety of burgers. The cheeseburger is hearty and tasty as well. Think outside the box and order the burger and make sure to order the French fries extra crispy. Another secret is the NY steak and fried chicken. Crazy right? Not here! Our friends and family have been going to Mexicali for 40+ years and it's always a fun party atmosphere. Let me know what you think.
Just to be clear about things: I’m white so Mexican food to me is good whether it’s authentic or “Americanized” With that bright said, I absolutely LOVE Mexicali restaurant! The flavors are rich and delicious. I typically order the enchiladas, however everything else I have had is great! The chips and salsa are always consistently good. And the guacamole is BOMB! I have heard that they’re well known for their margaritas, I don’t drink so I couldn’t tell you. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. My wife and I enjoy sitting in the “patio area” which is beautiful and sets aside from the main seating area. Lastly, all of their staff is awesome but our favorite is Stella, she’s a real awesome lady! Go to Mexicali!!
