The Derby is one of the great old time steak houses left in Los Angeles County. It's a historic restaurant with a cozy ambiance. Everything on the menu is really good but I love their steaks. If you happen to go there on your birthday they will treat you with a baked Alaska! Yummy.
Went there back in November. Prime rib was amazing and cooked exactly the way I ordered it. Server (forgot her name) saw the note that it was a birthday dinner and gave us complimentary dessert. Would definitely stop by again when I'm in the mood to treat myself to prime rib again. Gets loud when seated near larger parties.
Best steak in town, and cont. To Be the best steak in town, I was was there again 02-19. Another great dinner. Been eating here for 20 year now. The Derby cont to maintain good quality with good prizes.... and always happy with the service. Love the bread. Wine selection very good. Make reservation a must. : ) happy eating.
I had a great night there. Their pasta was so delicious. The ambiance was so cozy, quiet with very attentive servers. The elderly lady serving us was so hospitable. She has served at Derby for 10 year after working at Pasadena. I will go to this restaurant frequently after this experience.
After moving away from the area a number of years ago, it was a sheer displesure to return. Nothing had changed. We went to lunch at The Derby to meet with our adult granddaughter who we missed seeing during the holidays. The restaurant was festively decorated. It had a warm and wonderful feeling Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and shown to our booth in the room with a lovely fireplace. It was all so very civilized. Our server was very polite and accommodating. My husband and I split a roast beef sandwich which was ample and added soup, me the french onion, my husband the clam chowder. Both were great. For dessert, our server recommended their famous bread pudding. She brought back three divided servings with whipped cream. It was the perfect amount. We were very pleased with the ambiance, the service and the food. So much so that we will return for dinner later in the month to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends. Thank you for a lovely lunch. Can't wait for a great dinner.
