Very authentic edomae sushi, tasted exactly same high quality as the sushi restaurant I loved in Asia. Rice and fish balances well. Highly recommended to make reservation at sushi bar ahead of time if you prefer to fully enjoy the sushi. Service is also very good and friendly.
The omakase experience here is flawless. Each item made by the chef left me speechless, it was so delicious. The chef, right in front of us for the whole meal was incredibly friendly and engaging. Not a cheap meal, but for the quality and experience well worth it.
A worthy Japanese restaurant to have a try. Without going to little Tokyo in Downtown, you can taste the quality Japanese food in our little town, Arcadia.
I have been eyeing this restaurant since it’s opened. It took over a noodle shop next to Chef Tony. The new modern look gives this restaurant an appealing attraction. Without going inside, I had already liked the restaurant.
The food are excellent as well. You can have omakase at the counter($80 per person) or ala carte from the menu. During lunch, there are lunch sets available.
We went for lunch during a weekday as we weren’t able to make a reservation for the weekends. We tried the ala carte menu. The sashimi were very fresh from the lunch combo we ordered. The tuna meats were tender and melt in your mouth. The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked rendering juicy and tender meats. But they don’t provide teriyaki sauce as the authentic Japanese restaurants don’t rely on the sauces to make their food taste good.
My wife loved their Chawanmushi ( Japanese egg custard). It’s so smooth. I tried to cook this dish at home and I am still having problem mastering the timing for a smooth egg custard.
Overall, this Japanese restaurant is a fresh breath addition to the the Arcadia culinary scenes. Will definitely go back to try their nigiri sushi which many of our fellow Yelpers were raving about.
Secret menu - hairy crab all the way. Friend recommended to check this place out and it's definitely a secret gem in the 626. Vibe is upscale sushi restaurant with Japanese speaking staff. First time seeing more Japanese folks than the typical 626 crowd which says a lot. Definitely request to hear about their secret/ off menu items which the hairy crab definitely worth the price and the crab brains. Great appetizer item while catching up with friends.
Took one star off because I felt like the staff didn't want me to order the whole crab instead only half. Never thought I'd have to repeat myself multiple times to order an item. I understand they wanted to inform me of the price and do their due diligence in making sure we didn't order too much. It wasn't a great start to the dinner service feeling frustrated during the order process.
Quick Summary
Finally a solid, authentic Japanese restaurant in Arcadia. Came here for lunch and pretty good quality fish and sushi rice. They are a bit understaffed at the moment, but it's probably the best sushi restaurant in Arcadia
Food- 5 stars
Sashimi lunch- very solid fish quality. Portions are fair and all the appetizers were good (vegetables, tofu, and miso soup)
Sushi lunch- solid fish quality. Sushi rice was delicious and everything was the perfect temperature.
Deluxe sushi lunch- same as above
Service- 4 stars
The servers were good and approachable. However, they were a bit understaffed, which led to a wait to get into the restaurant (they had plenty of empty tables when it first opened, but not enough staff to manage all the tables), and also a longer wait to get our food. It's forgivable during these tough times
Ambiance- 5 stars
Very modern and clean Japanese sushi restaurant. Everything looked newly renovated and it appears they spent a lot of resources on the renovations
Bottom Line
Finally a solid, authentic sushi restaurant in Arcadia. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and are craving sushi
