Snow bbq buns were too sugary. Chive cakes had too few chives. Shumai were very salty. Beef noodle rolls were falling apart. Hargow tasted like frozen ones you buy at the store. We thought the lower price would do well but portions were pretty small that we had to order more. Overall, we weren't satisfied after eating.
Wow awesome spot. Finally quick to go dim sum in Cerritos with very authentic flavors. Perfect crusts on the pastries and delicious savory flavors for all the meats. Don't even get me started on the sticky rice. It felt like my mom's home cooking made with love.
Dim Sum Hut, meet Rodney the Hutt
Dim Sum Hut recently opened at the 99 Ranch Plaza, and on a brisk February morning, dim sum sounded like a great idea. Dim Sum Hut hand makes all their food in the early morning, foregoing convenience over quality. And, that quality shines with each menu item.
Shrimp har gow-
A perennial favorite, the shrimp har gow were great. Quite addicting, I could've ordered more in a heartbeat, but thought better to try other things, first. I wasn't given sauce of any kind with the har gow, necessitating asking the manager for some. He kindly obliged with some chili oil.
Char siu rice noodle roll-
I found the char siu rice noodle roll to be mid. Not bad, just mid. I would've preferred some vegetables to balance things out, even though that's not an authentic representation of this dish.
Egg custard pineapple bao-
Really good! I had my first taste of lava mooncakes in Monterey Park back in December, and these brought back fond memories of gooey, messy egg yolk custard. Again, not wanting to shoot up my bill, I refrained from buying more.
Egg tart-
Piping hot & excellent! The egg custard in the tart was warm, with a light texture. Almost like whipped cream. The egg tart is a must get.
Buchi (red bean sesame ball)-
Always welcome, the bigger the better, Dim Sum Hut's buchi was giant-sized, with an ample amount of sweet red bean filling. Can't leave without buying at least one!
After 4pm, Dim Sum Hut sells Mystery Boxes for $10. Whatever food they have left, they gather into boxes & sell till everything's gone. That's why the place doesn't have set closing time. Dim Sum Hut closes when they run out of food for the day.
Service was good. The manager was friendly & offered recommendations for me to ponder upon. Being the second customer of the day, there was a short wait, which most definitely becomes longer as the day goes by. A small building, with 3 tables & bar seating, Dim Sum Hut is more grab n' go. I'd imagine things get congested during the prime hours. Dim Sum Hut is located at the 99 Ranch Plaza, located on the left of It's Boba Time.
Dim Sum Hut is a new local favorite for me! Freshly made, the assorted dim sum is worth the extra cost, compared to frozen/premade options. Be prepared for a wait, either by browsing the other businesses in the plaza, or killing time on your phone. Quality takes time! Dim sum seems to be the hot trend at the moment, and Dim Sum Hut is a great place to get your fix. Highly recommend!
TRADITIONAL DIM SUM AT ITS BEST!
Our family has been doing Dim Sum since the 70s. We were frequent Golden Dragon patrons then as well as now. It has been a tradition to go to the Golden Dragon Lunar New Year parade & cebration since the 70s as well . Have continued the traditional with my kids and now as adults we still go.
Highly recommend chow soa bow and the hair gow!!gown!!! Perfectly prepared and so tastey!!!
Authentic, delicious and nice to experience the rich traditions of the Chinese cultures.
