One of the BEST meals I've had in a long time. I have way too much I want to say about it, but I'm lazy, so I'll just give you the TL;DR:
AMAZING food
Great service
Cozy establishment
Reasonable price
Better than Providence and Melisse
Kthxb.
I was lucky enough to get on the reservation list years back when it first opened up. Was amazing at the time and continues to be so.
There were so many elements that were very good, but ultimately the food of the Piedmont tasting menu simply did not live up to the $350 per person billing. The tuna mousse was good, saved by the single caper. The pasta with sage sauce was tasty, but the serving size was so small it was not remotely worth the price. The service was excellent, 5 stars there. The dessert courses were a highlight, but served in the upstair speakeasy, which felt like my brother's closet. Overall a nice experience, not remotely worth the cost. Go a block away to SBG and save $200 per person.
Starting with great service and experience. Has an complimentary drink and raw shell fish treat in the wine storage was cool..actually cold. The main coastal tasting menu, especially the abalone and shrimp, were tender and tasty. It might not look as good as those $300+ menu, but for $125 per person, it is a great treat and worth 5 stars.
Great service and fun staff. Good food and also nice to see Curtis at the kitchen
