Shalimar Cuisine of India

The food was delicious, but for the price I paid. There should have been more chicken!

This place is so good and you will love the food and service you get in here.
My fave Indian restaurant. Great owner and staff.

Really 3.5 stars, just not quite reaching the 4 star mark. The mulligatawny soup and appetizers were good, but not quite as good as the rest of the meal.

But the main dishes:
Best. Korma. Ever.
And the Shalimar chicken Choila was a total surprise. I'd been expecting a standard Indian-type dish -- meat or vegetables with some sort of sauce or gravy. This wasn't that. Not at all.

Visualize a ceviche, but with cooked chicken instead of shrimp and raw fish, and with Southeast Asian spices instead of Mexican. Served slightly below room temperature and an interesting surprise to the nose and taste buds.

Two other thoughts:
1. This is a fine dining place, white tablecloths, good china, etc. Service matches. Do not expect to be in and out in less than an hour. If you want to sample their dishes in a hurry, go for the lunch buffet.

2. Dinner for two ran us $60 + tip. But then, you're getting just short of 4 star food and service. [Really attentive service]

I've been coming here for more years than I care to remember and the food has always been extremely good. The lunch is cheap and it's a buffet with all kinds of lovely Indian dishes to choose from. Great value for money. The place is also very clean and it's been redecorated and has the obligatory TV with videos playing Bollywood type music. The bar is well stocked and the service prompt and pleasant.
