50th birthday dinner! 18 oz ribeye steak PERFECT!!!! For the price they had no room for error. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Dark and a little noisy but worth it.
It's really a 3.5. I so wanted to like the change back closer to the original Dear John's. The ratings have been great and maybe my expectations were just too high. The prices are very high for the quality and value. I ordered a "well" martini that came in a little glass and was charged $14!!! There were many raving reviews on the ribeye, which we decided to split at ($58). It was okay, but certainly not the best ribeye I've ever had - far from it. My friend said her's was tough and really couldn't eat much of it. All entrees are solo. Want a side dish or salad with that? Prepare to spend another $9. They are priced like a high-end steakhouse, except...it's not. It's in casual Culver City. While service and atmosphere are 5-star, the food quality and high prices unfortunately drove down my rating considerably. Bummer. Has so much potential, but unless they work on prices/value, I just don't see myself coming back, or recommending Dear John's. They might as well have just shut down permanently. ????
Amazing food, impeccable service, cool vibe. The steak was especially great. Highly recommend.
So much fun. Great food and atmosphere, feels very authentic. Loved every minute of being there.
Another concept from LA culinary legend Josiah Citrin. Inspired by the 1960's hangout of Frank Sinatra (same name, same place) Dear John's features American fare and classic cocktails. Hollywood legends used to haunt these grounds and are sure to once again. What a brilliant concept and execution! Congratulations to Mr. Citrin on this new venture and cheers to many years of success!! (It is SURE to be a success)
