A bit over priced for the quality. It was fine when it was ayce. No longer a good value for what you get.
When my go-to sushi place (this one) no longer appeared Google Maps, I took it upon myself to re-add this location. I had never added a location to google maps prior, but eventually grew tired of not finding a search result for this place every time I'd look up "hikari sushi" to locate the associated number necessary to place my order. At the time of adding this location, it's website, the phone number, and even a photo all for diligence's sake - I also left it with a first review. A review for 5 stars, reflecting my admiration for their delicious sushi. Yet today, with a heavy heart, I have to amend my previous review for the worse.
Repeatedly as of late, I have been disappointed with my experience. While the sushi quality is generally still good, on multiple occasions I've gotten my order (enough sushi for 3 people) without any wasabi, or just a single container. At this point, I don't leave the restaurant with my takeout order without having opened the bag and made sure there's adequate wasabi. Tonight also marks the second occasion in the past 3-4 months since leaving my initial review when an order for Japanese mackerel has instead been filled with Spanish Mackerel - which is poor substitute. The takoyaki was almost entirely batter with miniscule amounts of squid. Ordering bluefin tuna sometimes results in receiving bluefin tuna, and sometimes results in receiving regular tuna at the cost of bluefin tuna.
Overall, I still think this place makes good sushi. I don't know if the recent disappointments are a matter of someone taking down the wrong orders, and it isn't my place to speculate. If you're going to dine-in, I think the issues I've experienced as of late would be mostly avoided and I would still recommend this place. If you're looking to carry out a sushi order, presently I would be less inclined to make a strong recommendation. I do want to be sure to note that I think the sushi quality is still good. Just ensure the person taking your order over the phone reads back the order to you.
Great sushi! The rolls are so fresh and delicious. Anne is really nice and recommended the seared escolar roll, which is my favorite now.
No longer all-you-can-eat. Compared to other ACYE Sushi places they were great, but as a regular sushi restaurant 3 stars is generous. The quality of the fish is nothing special and they aren't any cheaper then nearby sushi places. There are 5 waaaay better sushi restaurants within 3 miles. If you're gonna pay full price you might as well go to one of the others.
