Good food along with great southern hospitality. My bf and i were trolling the streets of la in search of good grub when i spotted the large yellow grand opening signage for world famous fried chicken. We u- turned and said why not patronize new establishment. We were greeted with a smile by one of Ms. Maggie's daughters (Nicole) of this neighborhood walk up restaurant. She explained how her Mom & Aunt had once co-labored together in the restaurant business until her aunt' health failed. But what a smart family to keep the restaurant paid up and return later for another relaunch.
The menu is quite extensive from baked to fried chicken, pork chops & more with the usual soul food suspects (mac, greens, yams etc...). Prices are very, very reasonable and the portions are more than enough to satisfy your appetite.
I ordered the chicken wings, mac & greens. It comes with cornbread and rice & gravy. The cornbread tasted lemony almost cakelike. I passed on the rice dish. Mac was not my favorite; I think it was made with egg which separated and gives off curdling. I am a little bias being from TX style cooking vs Tennessee. Overall the chicken was hot and well seasoned. I would definitely return again. If not just for the great hospitality.
