I normally don’t get impressed by the Ox bone soup in Ktown in general. However, this place was literally superb. I ordered their Ox bone soup (spicy) and it was truly authentic. I’ve never tasted like this ever before even I was in Korea (I moved to America 2013, still I’m relatively new to LA so I remember what authentic ones look like) I brought my boyfriend who hasn’t eaten these kind of korean food (fyi, he’s non-korean, an white american guy), he was pleasurably eating his menu (Galbi-tang). In addition to this, I am not big fan of “raw-crab” meat in my life. They served it as one of the small side dishes I was curious about it since I’ve read about lots of positive reviews before I went. And, I realized that “raw-crab” is not a joke. No words needed - Next time I visit, I will try out Ganjang ge-jang (raw crab meat marinated with soy source)
I'm sure the food here is good for traditional Korean aficionados, but I found the broth flavor a bit too light. The menu also said Oxtail Bone Soup, but I was disappointed it didn't have any ox tail, only ther broth was ox tail and the meat are sliced of beef. The menu didn't elaborate that.
Small space, simply but very tastefully decorated, a healthy number of cheerful customers young, old, and multiethnic, quality ingredients & preparation, frequently refilled kimchi & pickles, attentive waitress, and a roiling, bubbling cast iron bowl billowing steam in my face made it well worth the $15ish + tip I paid for... broth. With a little bit of beef and noodles, and a lot of side dish.
I wouldn't do it every day, but overall, money well spent
*To be fair, there were a few additional options for groups or big spenders
Everything on their menu here is great! I especially like their Galbi Tang. The broth is very flavorful and when I reach of the end of the bowl, I am very fat and happy.
The soy sauce marinated crab set is also delicious. I would recommend getting this and a stew to share.
Great food and very friendly staff. Super clean restroom.
- One of the best Ox Bone Soups.
- Soy sauce-marinated shrimp was not too salty (just for me!) and yummy.
I will come back.
