Ok, I know the photo doesn't look like anything too special, but having tried tacos all over, this place is special. Go for taco Thursdays. It's unreal. A lot of reviews about a lot of places might say this, but make no mistake these are among the best tacos I've ever had. Handmade corn tortillas, excellent quality meat and fish, the tripa was even incredible which is usually not my thing. Go hungry, eat everything, and thank these folks for their gastronomic service to the planet. I'd give their tacos a sixth star if I could.

Came here after a hike to grab a bite. We ordered 2 burritos to try, the Hey Porky's and the Mc Torta. Let me just say, you HAVE to try the Hey Porky's burrito, my goodness, the combination of every ingredient just comes together so perfectly. We will be back to get the porky burrito and try other items, great job!!
In my picture, the top one is Hey Porky and the bottom is Mc Torta.

Angry Egret Dinette has not yet resumed indoor dining room service, so we ordered from one window, claimed some outdoor seating, until they called my name, and I collected the to-go packages at the other window.

When I picked up the food I said something about it looking good and the man replied that we had ordered the good stuff.

There were four specials on the menu that day, and my wife and I shared three of them.

Wonderful. I won't try to describe the dishes, I wouldn't do them justice. And as specials, they might never be on the menu again. But they were stunning.

Fine dining, prepared with imagination and skill. This is not commodity fare nor is it inexpensive. Yes, it came in plastic packages and we had to collect it at the proper window ourselves, but it was a fine experience. We were treated well, our table was pleasant, and the food was stunning.

Compare for contrast my review of the very disappointing Steep LA, just a few doors down.

I love the outdoor space and their murals. The service is friendly but a bit thin. I enjoyed the sea bass ceviche but the shrimp tacos shined. I've had their breakfast sandwich on a different occasion and it was ok. The menu changes and the breakfast to lunch menu changeover is definitely on island time so come here for a laidback casual food hang and enjoy people watching and LA weather. If the coffee was better I'd be there every weekend.
