Two take out (or delivery) options! I ordered the Chicken Kalgooksoo for lunch and wanted to give some to my parents for dinner, so they gave me an order with the noodles uncooked.
I ate my lunch pretty late, but the noodles were still good. I recommend pouring some of the hot soup on the noodles to loosen it - then put the noodles in the soup bowl.
Dinner option is just as good. I was told to have two pots going at one time - boil the soup and boil hot water. Once the water is boiling, put the noodles. Transfer the cooked noodles to the soup and voila! They give you kimchi on the side as well as that red sauce.
If you want the kimchi jar, they sell that separately. Kimchi is perfectly sweet, salty, and spicy - great pairing with Kalgooksoo.
Will order again, but can't wait for Covid 19 to be over. I miss dining in.
Soup base: pretty good
Chicken meat: fair
Price: given free refill, it’s a deal if you can consume minimum 2 bowls
Restaurant is new and clean!
You should know that this place only offers what they are known for, which is of course kal-guk-su. They have a few sides, but the noodles are the main attraction.
I thought it was very good. The broth had a balanced flavor, not too powerful but just right. And the noodles were excellent. I loved them. They were a perfect complement to the broth.
I wish there were a few more options on the menu. But I understand that they don’t want to distract from the star of their show.
I love noodle dishes, from ramen to carbonara to kalguksu, and I know that I’ll be craving to come back here soon.
Have been waiting a long time for Hyesung noodle house to finally open but when they finally did it was definitely worth the hype. Made in house, the noodles are made fresh every morning and there is nothing like it out in Los Angeles. I went to the restaurant for the first time and ordered everything on the menu and my experience there was beyond my expectations. Great hospitality and service. The owner is very kind and made me feel at home. Definitely my new go to spot out in LA and will be coming back very soon.
Kalguksu noodle soup is simple but tasty - its only visible ingredients being of noodles and chopped spring onions in broth. The pancake was also tasty.
