Great people, great food and now at a new location on York Blvd partnering with Block Party so you can sit down and have a drink with your tacos. Best way to check out how they operate and hours is their instagram, @villastacoslosangeles. A friend of mine puts it this way, "this isn't a taco, this is a culinary experience". Many will agree "if it ain't Villa's Tacos, I don't wanna taco bout it!" Villa's lives up to Mexican cuisine as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The kind of place that makes you proud to be an Angeleno.

Walking along York, I saw this line start to form and asked around if it was for the taco stand. I got in line and googled Villas Tacos and figured, I’ll stand in line to see what the hype is about.

Once the stand opened, the owner welcomed the line, told us what to get if it was our first time, and even led the line in singing Happy Birthday to a few folks in line. Already a good vibe!

The line went by fast and I ordered the chorizo queso taco, no crema (I’m a picky eater, I’m sure the crema is delicious). I decided to try the queso taco because I’ve never seen anything like it.

The queso taco is made with Monterey Jack (I believe) melted on the tortilla, which crisps around the edges. The chorizo was beyond amazing, I would literally eat that by the spoonful. The tacos also come with salsa and pickled hibiscus onions which were delightfully sweet.

Next time I will have to try the asada and pollo tacos, the traditional way (which still come with guac for free, which is a huge plus in my book!), as well as the aguas frescas. They serve it in a large, 24 oz deli container to take home which is a nice touch.

Overall, the vibes and service were amazing and the food was delicious. I can’t wait to come back and try more. With the owner’s dedication to this stand, I have no doubt they will succeed with opening a storefront in the near future if they decide to do so.

We got the trio: black beans with chicken, chorizo con papa, and carne asada. The tortillas are so good. He is hand pressing them as he makes the tacos. There's a superb balance of flavor with just the right amount of salt, spice, and texture. If you want to heat it up, ask for salsa. These tacos are not spicy on their own. However, these tacos are plentiful. I was stuffed with three. I cannot wait to make it out again to try more. The aguas-- we got lime cucumber ( so fresh and the perfect compliment to the tacos) and strawberry lemonade.

Coming here for the first time I was immediately greeted by the staff; friendly and amiable people. I also have no words for the food, it was exceptional. Umami is the best word to describe the amalgamation of flavors that busted a nut in my mouth. 11/10. A must try!

What do say about a place that delivers quality, flavor and love in all their food? Well, I can only speak for myself, but I can taste and smell the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. I can feel the love and energy that was put in to the creation of taco, and visually, these tacos are unique in a very special way.
My suggestion, give them a try, if you haven't already. You'll be in for an amazing experience.
