Aji Ichiban

Aji Ichiban is a chain store, selling various dried fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. It caters to mainly an Asian clientele in terms of tastes..the majority of the items are popular in Asia, but will seem exotic or unusual to foreigners. They offer everything from dried peas, ginger, plums, mango, to meats like beef and seafood, such as squid. All of these and more come in flavors that range from sweet, to salty, to tart and sour. You are able to sample items, most have samples with toothpicks. Prices are marked per pound. Most items are available prepackaged in a couple different sizes for convenience. Service? The lady at the front is pleasant, but this place is really self service, then you go to the register to pay.

Overall great place, a bit pricey but good.

Aji Ichiban is under new management, as of July 1st 2018 and has changed significantly. The store now sells many new products that are unique. I would highly recommend to stop by for a unique experience. I am really impressed with their promotion of getting a stamp for every $10 spent, to receive a 10% off discount on the 11th purchase. I find that very clever and attracts customers, such as myself to frequently buy the many products offered at this store. They also have another location in San Gabriel Square 99 Ranch Market Plaza.

Generally love these kinds of places. Except this place is a tad more pricey than getting an entire bag from the supermarket, but I guess you are paying for the variety that you can have in your bag. Potentially you can have like 30 kinds of candies in your bag.
