Clearman's North Woods Inn

We made our Valentine's date at Clearman's. It's a beautiful building. It feels like a mountain resort.
We had a reservation, but got there a little early. Although the lobby was busy, I noticed people weren't waiting too long. They offer everyone peanuts and encourage you to throw your shells on the floor. How fun!
We walked over to the bar. The drinks in the menu include prices. I loved the fact that I knew exactly how much I was going to spend. The prices were affordable and the drinks were tasty.
We got our table and had an awesome waiter. He was funny yet knowledgeable. He recommended the perfect dishes. The bread is hard to put down. The salads are mouthwatering! Our steak was cooked perfectly. Our plates came with huge baked potatoes and jumbo shrimp. Just yum!
We spent about $150 all together including several drinks. On average $100 will cover meals for two.

Torn between a three star and four star. This is more of an old school steak house kind of place. Nothing new or worth the drive but the food is solid and I love the cheese toast and cabbage salad (even if over dressed). I love the atmosphere and service. Came here after a hike in the mountains and felt perfect. Portion are very large. Oh, and the kids love tossing peanuts on the floor. I admit that is fun for me too.

The atmosphere of this place is very cool, and makes you feel as if you're somewhere in Alaska rather than the middle of the San Gabriel valley, however that is largely it's redeeming feature. The food isn't of poor quality, however for the amount you pay, the portions are rather small and are full of filler (mostly baked potato, salad and rice). It may be a cool place to come for some dessert or a sandwich, but not so much for a full dinner.

Amazing food, my family have gone here for the past 60 years. Never a bad meal. Service slow but had great company so it didn't matter. Waitress was very nice.

Arranged a work party with manager Richard. He was professional, courteous and friendly. He easily handled all the details. The room where our party was held was beautifully decorated and everything was as Richard promised. Food was good and our servers Blanca, Sam and Gail were attentive, conscientious and wonderful. We would not have our Christmas party anywhere else. Thank you!
