Truxton's American Bistro

This place is pretty great and I would highly recommend it for late evening drinks and a snack! We had a few mixed drinks and an appetizer and were quite impressed with the quality, especially considering the price! We went to the Chester club next door later this evening and they had worse beer selection and much more expensive drinks, some of which were identical to the ones served here! Combine that with the excellent service and I have a hard time understanding the appeal of the Chester club....they may have a large wiskey selection, but you'll pay an arm and a leg for it!

Worth going out of the way. Cute little Bistro with good food...but would have got 5 stars if the service was more pleasant and accommodating. We tried the Shepherds pie, fish tacos, chicken curry bowl, chicken burrito and the cheesecake.

I had a “take out” order; I had the traditional burger 8oz. The burger was one of the BEST EVER; cooked perfectly but the fryes were the pits. I can’t say for sure but I think the were left over from earlier in the day (I ordered at 4:00 pm) and put in the oil to reheat. They were like eating dry twigs and basically not eatables. I live hundreds of miles away and if ever back in the area I would go back for the burger...... not the Frye’s.

Very good Shepherd's Pie. Their quite wide selection of draft beers was not available due to a 'mechanical problem. They had a limited selection of bottled beer as well as some nice wines.

Service was good. Atmosphere was informal, not anything special - but this didn't spoil a good meal.

Food is really good. I haven't tried their burgers yet, but heard they are fantastic. Half off cocktails on Monday night. Atmosphere is mellow and fairly quiet, which I love. Sunday night was the busiest I've seen them - other nights there are fewer people and it's even quieter.
