El Cantaro

I’m an avid Mexican food eater, having grown up in San Diego. I am very impressed by this place. I had the nachos and the pozole. Their guacamole tastes great and has the right texture.

I absolutely love this place . They have very delicious Mexican food . Try their steak torta! Is amazing ????

Awesome, flavorful food with big portions and an extensive menu. The combo #3 is my favorite so far. The crispy potato taco is so good!!! Can’t wait to come back and try some more things on the menu.

A large selection of vegan Mexican dishes, we do eat there somewhat regularly and have tried many items on the menu. We normally have a party of 2 to 4 of us. But some typical issues like on our last visit. if we are told the sauce on a dish is mild, we don't expect it to be blazing hot and inedible. Three of our party are served in 20 minutes, the fourth meal took another 15 as they apparently forgot. We waited another 20 minutes for a dessert, and then they attempted to serve it to another table. You order at the counter, and the machine asks you for what percentage tip you want to give which is long before you are served. Don't expect a generous tip at this point will improve service one bit. So make sure you have plenty of time, patience, and money.

I discovered this place while staying near Cannery Row. I’m a vegetarian and so usually tend to check out places like this before going to other not as veggie friendly places. It received good reviews and had an interesting menu, so I gave it a shot. I don’t remember what I ordered, but it was a BBQ pineapple burrito that was really good for the first few bites, but then the BBQ sauce became a bit overwhelming. There were other things I wanted to try, so I went back the next day and was not disappointed. Also don’t remember exactly what I got, but it was good. My wife came to visit during one of the weeks I was working in the area and I took here here. She loved it. Will definitely go back when I’m in the area.
