Toasties Café

Our breakfast was delish! I had the Spanish Omelette with roasted potatoes, an English Muffin, and brewed coffee. I also, ordered the French Toast. It was delicious! I had plenty left to eat the next day. Everything was cooked exactly how I had asked for. Our serverJasmine, was so sweet, and provided us with excellent service. Thanks Jasmine. I'm definitely, coming back here next time I visit Pacific Grove.

If you're coming for good food, good choice. It's not bad at all and surprisingly, my Spinach, Mushroom and Jack omelette was filling for its size. As my diet doesn't let me enjoy traditional hot cakes, I gave those to my friend who joined me in trying this place out.

But here's why I couldn't give it the full five:

+ Service - Service is pleasant, don't get me wrong. But it was one person trying to do their best with the whole place. So unfortunately, some items were forgotten (my friend's toast got delayed cause he asked to swap his hash browns for French fries).

On that note, sometimes I watched the waitress approach a table, watch for a couple of seconds and then leave. Perhaps to be mindful of customers seemingly busy, but this happened to my table and we were hoping for some answers on the toast, heh.

That and no refills on our drinks during our meal, just before our order was taken.

+ Menu - If my friend's toast issue is anything to go by, substitutions can make things finicky. Additions are pricy ($1.95 for some avocado, a side of ham or sausage comes at about ~$5).

In short -- it'll do in a pinch but not my first choice.

I was at Toasties twice this week. On Wednesday the waitress seemed to think that the coffee cup would fill itself. Today, another one got my friend's order so mixed up it wasn't even funny. They're nice there, but it may be time to start driving to Monterey for breakfast or lunch!

4 months later and things haven't changed very much. This restaurant charges too much for the service you receive. We couldn't get a glass of ice tea refilled without a long delay. Two busboys on duty and the most movement out of them was to run over to the window to look out when several girls walked down the sidewalk outside. Not going back.

Excellent ambience. Great food at a reasonable price. Staff was very courteous.

The food was top notch.
Best potatoes I've had with a breakfast. The eggs were great. Bacon crispy, sausage flavorful. One of us ordered bacon, was given sausage instead. When we were able to catch our server the issue was corrected quickly and at no charge. That's how it's done.

The service was okay...
We were seated quickly and given a few moments then our server* popped up and asked for our order. No greetings just what do you want?
We ordered and before I was done naming my order, the server left.

The server was quick and helpful if we could pin the server down. But getting the attention of our server was a challenge. We didn't need much, coffee refill, and a water refill.

Not a huge deal but enough to knock off a star.
