Let me put the questions of service to rest- this fine dining establishment does all of the things a fine dining establishment ought to. The service was impeccable, the food was divine and the cost fell in line with such an experience. Celebrating my birthday here the staff was exceptional. Will be back.
We went last night for our anniversary and it was a spectacular experience! The food was perfect, the staff was friendly, knowledgable, and very attentive, the atmosphere was perfect and not stuffy like most places with such prestige!
I absolutely loved every element! From the wine to the food to the little surprises along the journey! This was a bucket list for me and I was not disappointed.
I have been there twice invites by friends. Very interesting place. I would give 4 stars for the dishes, between good and very good. But the service of the staff . . . 3 stars. They can do better.
I only gave this four stars so as not to affect the score for this restaurant. However, to give the restaurant the sense of the power of bad google reviews let me relay the following -- after making reservations at La Toque, I decided I'd rather eat the $100 than risk what seems like a terrible service experience after reading the reviews here the day before we were supposed to dine. If you read the reviews, several them note slow, poor service. The owner or someone working for them attempts to make excuses, but when you have that many folks making the same comments, they can't all be wrong. If this were not Michelin starred or didn't cost a high amount, you could forgive some of it. But service is one of the key points to a Michelin restaurant and I hope the guide takes note of it in the future. It doesn't help that there's very mixed reviews about this place as well when you ask people who actually live here and reiterate the service issues. Service and quality servers are within the control of the restaurant. Look at other Michelin starred places -- I don't think I've ever seen such comments at other restaurants in such volume. We skipped and had a fine meal elsewhere. The reviews are read by fine diners and this particular diner took the warnings from others here seriously.
Great food, worth a Michelin star. Unfortunately the staff, while attentive to details, was not welcoming at all and seemed to be very unhappy with what they were doing.
Overall it made us feel quite bad for being there, which I find unacceptable in a restaurant, not to mention one with a Michelin star.
