Great casual place to relax and watch the sun go down over the ocean. My friend and I split the Grilled Baja Style Whole Fish for 2 ($36), which came on a platter with guacamole, pickled onions, cabbage with Serrano chiles, and corn tortillas. It's basically a build your own fish taco platter. It was fun and delicious. We had to push aside some of the super hot Serrano chiles, which we picked out of the cabbage, because it was catching our mouth on fire, lol. The fish was de-boned, so it was easy to fork chunks of the light white fish into the tortilla. The servers were friendly and attentive. Once we ordered at the cashier, they brought our fish to our table quickly (within minutes) Their passion fruit ice tea was really good too. The view was to die for. There was a surfing championship going on at the beach, but we got a table no problem at 4:30 pm on a Sunday with no reservations. Looks like they are renovating the upstairs where the bathrooms are. That area previously had a tiki decor, with padded booths. I imagine they are switching to a light, clean, California Beach look like the downstairs. Great place, I will definitely be back. I look forward to eating upstairs when that floor is done.
Super nice staff. Inside was very cute and beautiful view of ocean. Worth walkinv to the end of the pier for a delicious bite to eat.
Delicious food, super friendly staff. Excellent beer/wine and a fun, bright environment with an unbeatable view at the end of the pier. Definitely not the previous restaurant; but worthy of judging upon it's own merits. 3 out of 5 stars, wouldn't change a thing.
Our food was amazing! Best fish and chips I've ever had. Clean restaurant, friendly attentive service, beautiful views. Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu.
I dined here the first week it opened as I was eager to eat under the iconic red roof again. Only the downstairs dining area was open at this time complete with a fresh clean look adorned with picnic tables. As of now, you order your food at the cashier, they give you a number and bring the food to your table. The food was tasty and they serve beer and wine. The outdoor walk up window is operating as well. I look forward to returning and seeing what they will do with the second floor (which still boasts the Jan & Dean’s Tiki Lounge mural leading up the stairs) - Glad to have the end of the HB pier dining experience back to enjoy!
