Jay Bird’s Chicken

The food was pretty good. The batter they use on the chicken was just right and allowed it to be crispy. The spice levels are accurate. I really liked the fries.

Here’s my gripe: They need a better process for moving customers along. I went at lunch time and they had one girl taking phone orders and trying to take orders of the people in line. I saw at least 3 other people working in back including the owner. She was obviously overwhelmed and he just moseyed around not doing much. Luckily I had ordered ahead so I didn’t have to wait any longer. I was inline no joke 10 minutes and there was only 1 person ahead of me. They should have a separate line for online or phone orders.

Solid though overpriced fast food. Sauces and pickles are not bad at all, but not great. Would go back but probably just stick to tenders...giant, juicy, spicy as you want, and a relatively good value compared to the sandwiches.

Great place will be back several more times. Great location in Huntington Beach! Had the medium spice level and it’s was good but could up a level. Come try the place you won’t regret it

In our party of 3, we each ordered the tenders, but with different levels of heat. To say these chicken tenders are huge is a major understatement. They were perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful, which isn't always the case with such large tenders. The smoky ketchup was wonderful with fries and the creamy mac n' cheese helped offset the spicier tenders. We all really enjoyed the delicious chicken and the casual vibe. We highly recommend this incredible little gem on 3rd street in downtown Huntington Beach.

Fantastic hot chicken. As good as what I've had in TN and Brooklyn. I had the chicken sandwich (hot) and potato salad. Sandwich was flavorful, hot, and a generous size. Coleslaw on the sandwich balanced the heat well but didn't take away from the flavor of the chicken spices. The potato salad side was an elevated recipe and I loved it. However, for $14 I would ask the management to either train on really stuffing more potato salad in the container (really show you tried to give me all you could), or get a *slightly* larger container/portion. Compared to the fries, it's like 1/3 the food volume.

My friends got the crinkle cut fries and they were also bomb. The Mac n cheese was kind of cool and didn't go that well with the blazing fries we got. Could be cuz we did take out and ate like 10 minutes later.

Will be coming back for more. They just opened so I'd guess the kitchen will get better over time.
