La Popular Roseville

This place is really good! Our first time here and definitely enjoyed it. Service was amazing both servers were very kind and friendly and attentive. I ordered an horchata drink and it wasn’t the best and they went as far as remaking the drink for me and it came out perfect the second time! Food was delicious the tacos were delicious and so were the enchiladas Blancas. They give you a sauce tray to try all of the sauces they have and my favorite was the llorona sauce. Over all great service and great food and great staff. Definitely recommend.

Went to La Popular for my birthday dinner with the family. This was our first visit to this establishment. To start, this location is directly next to Eureka, so make sure you go to the correct entrance (lol).

The atmosphere is pleasant, with a good vibe and comfortable seating. We ate indoors (there is a covered outdoor area as well).

To start, they serve chips and salsa that includes four different salsa varieties. Our favorite was the spiciest one and the soy based one. They were quite delicious and the heat was on point (I personally hate when restaurants claim spicy and they are not). For what it is worth, the chips are salsa are on point. The variety of salsa also provides options for everyone.

For our entrees, we mostly stuck to the tacos. I had the Al pastor, others had shrimp and fish, and one had the enchiladas. My hubby also got their bean soup to try as well. Everything was served hot and quickly, I also had a side of rice and beans. Everything was delicious, I don’t really have any complaints or particular remarks. The tortillas were good, the meat and veggies, along with sauces were flavorful.

That being said, was this the best taco or Mexican food, no. Was it the worst or even bad, absolutely not. The food was good, the service was good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I generally like to reserve a 5 star rating for something that really shines in flavor and options.

Overall, I would go again and the food is good. If you’re looking for a more upscale Mexican eatery this place will meet the mark.

Great social drinking and dinner spot, not our favorite Mexican food we have had but it was good, the menu seemed limited. But the Service was great, it was a clean and fun environment. We did not get alcoholic drinks, but it seemed to be a spot for drinks and if you want food there are great options.

First time visiting La Popular, not your typical Mexican fare. We had an early reservation, got right in, decided to eat indoors, patio was fairly full at 5:00 on Father's Day.

Our waitress, Ashley, was on the ball, provided additional chips and water without having to ask. The array of 4 salsas of varying heat was a nice touch and our dinners were excellent. I had the Carnitas Tacos which were in fresh made corn tortillas and garnished with pickled onions, a guacamole salsa and a slice of fresh lime.

My husband had the Chicken Mole Enchalidas, 3 of them, served in a dark rich mole sauce and said they were excellent and very filling.

This place was packed on a Wednesday night. They don’t take reservations. We waited at the bar until we got our table. Drinks were good, service was attentive in the beginning then it was bad throughout the Night. Two of our party got the main course but the last one had to wait more than we expected. Chicken mole enchiladas has no flavor, and it looks like it could be a appetizer…too little portions. The ribs were the ones who took longer to get but were fantastic. The waiter disappeared and we had to flag down someone else to get us our check. Overall is okay, it probably needs more staff to keep the customers happy.
