Although this is not a formal dining restaurant the menu is extensive and the food is freshly prepared daily and is one of the best you will find anywhere when it comes to authentic Mexican cuisine. The staff is friendly, especially Guillermo, the owner, and does everything possible to make your experience thoroughly enjoyable. With full bar and excellent $5 margaritas u can't go wrong. Do not miss trying one of their desserts. All are made fresh and taste wonderful especially their authentic flan and fried icecream. This restaurant is clearly a diamond in the rough waiting to be discovered. The ONLY reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because their interior design and decor are a little dated but the food is clearly nothing short of excellent.
Went here with my wife for lunch. Kind of a funky spot because it is attached to a gas station but overall good food. I had a chile relleno al la carte and a papusa with cheese and jalapeño. Papua great. Chile relleno was good but the sauce was bland, like pureed tomatoes. I like a thick spicy ranchera sauce. But still good. My wife had 1 shrimp taco, delicious. And she had 1 tosdada de ceviche de pescado. Our thoughts were that they didn't marinate in lime juice long enough.
Service was not the best. Our waitress forgot about a few things, maybe she was new. Also I speak Spanish so that helped....
Oh and chavelas are awesome. Good mix of sauce and an ice cold glass. Try it out for yourself. I am very picky. I know what places to go for what I am in the mood for but overall good stuff. I am sure I will be there again soon.
Their camarones a la diabla are the best. I am very picky with my food and I live spicy and those are the best camarones a la Diabla in the valley. Great service. Love it
We very much liked the people the place and the food. We will go back again.
We did go back recently and again, the food was excellent. This is home cooked food.
So much Mexican food in America is the same familiar production. The Guadalajara Cafe is different. They have the regular and familiar Mexican fare but they also have interesting fresh hand-made dishes too.
