Visiting Rancho Mirage for the day searching for an authentic Thai restaurant, we stumbled upon Talay Thai Restaurant, and were so glad that we did. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was great. We ordered Thai tea, Tom Yum soup with fish, Pad Sum Rod with pork, and yellow curry with roasted duck. It was all very flavorful and filling. Our favorite item today was the Tom Yum soup, but it was all really great! We will definitely be coming back.
Always excellent! Tom yam soup and prik sum rod! My go to favorites! Family style dishes, however you may not want to share there so good! Always friendly, attentive and nice beer and wine selection
I think my expectations were influenced by the rave reviews Talay received on-line (Yelp, Google) because I didn’t find the food or experience to be anything special, which maybe I was anticipating based on the reviews? Food is good, service was okay (went on a busy night). I love Thai food and have been to many Thai restaurants, in comparison this wasn’t anything outstanding, but also wasn’t terrible. Not sure if I would go here again, although I am willing to give it another try next time I am in town.
Mango curry was excellent with just the right amount of heat. I recommend you paired with some warm sucking. The wait staff was incredibly polite and efficient, plus speedy. A definite must try. We look forward to coming back soon.
We had crab Rangoon, yellow curry with chicken and the Thai omelette with shrimp and chicken. I also got a side of steamed vegetables. Both the main dishes were good. Basically it was nothing special, but it was good. I think it is a little overpriced for what you get. The Crab Rangoon was 7.95 and was pretty basic. The steamed vegetables all tasted the same and were very bland. I couldn’t tell the difference in the potato and carrot with my eyes shut. I would not recommend the steamed vegetables.
