Taste Buds Barbeque

Local, been picking up takeout regularly during their 6 month soft opening. Catfish, yams, Turkey spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, fried zucchini, all great. The spaghetti legit tastes like my mama made it, and I lost her in 2002, so i am hard pressed to order another side after trying it. If you dine in, or even waiting for your takeout- ask the bartender to make you a Hennessy margarita- it's worth it!!

Update 6/2023 y'all know I love you, but a lil tough love is needed: please update menus to reflect dishes as they will be served. I have ordered the catfish dinner several times since 11/2022 when the restaurant opened, only for my 1st order after the 5/27/2023 grand opening to be half the size with a third of the flavor. A meal which came with 2 filets (as stated on the new laminated menus) now only came with one, and a formerly highly seasoned catfish batter tasted bland and old. This might be due to a new chef in the kitchen- Taste Buds, please train your kitchen staff on how to portion and season your signature dishes. As it is, I don't feel as confident when ordering now, as I did when only the owners were the ones in the kitchen.

Came here tonight after hearing advertisement on radio station WKDEE. Apparently the restaurant has a "soft opening" currently. Grand opening is the end of the month. The advertisement nor the website indicates this. I had reviewed the online menu and was ready for the deviled eggs with shrimp however when we arrived they were crossed off the menu with a few other things. If would be helpful to let customers know not all items are available since the grand opening has not occurred.
There was also a strange smell, not sure what it was throughout the restaurant.
The service was good, the food was mediocre and lukewarm.
Hopefully things will improve upon the "grand opening".

I provided an honest review based on my experience and have nothing to be ashamed of, and I did ask our server about the deviled eggs.
As an owner you should be open to constructive reviews hopefully you will learn from them to enhance your restaurant. As I mentioned the service was good.

The food was phenomenal. Brisket Sandwiches were off the chart! The potato salad was the best my husband & I have ever had! The staff is so friendly and kind. The interior is beautiful. Don’t miss out on this place. Sacramento finally has its #1 BBQ place in town!!!!

This is not my first time here and it won’t be my last, the food was phenomenal. The Ribs literally melt in your mouth and I’ve never tasted a potato salad that was so delicious, honestly the best potato salad in all of Northern California. Definitely a great fine dining experience.
