Joshua is the best. Ask for the karate master. He has an unreal intuition for what you like and don't. Asked for an old fashioned. He made me one that was exquisite, but a little sweet. I let him know and when I ordered another one he made me one that was much more suited to my palate.
Their seafood is right in front of you at the bar. Fresh as it gets. They pop open the oysters in front of you. Rarely do you recieve such a tailored experience for customers both culinarily and craft cocktails.
Again, ask for Joshua
We really enjoyed our dinner here. Outstanding ambiance, excellent service. We never had to hunt down the server and he always appeared when we needed something. I don't recommend the calamari appetizer. The sourdough was excellent. The oysters were good. I had a very nice piece of Ono. The cocktails were good and they had good zero alcohol options.
I've always enjoyed eating at King's fish house when my husband and I were in Carlsbad, but tonight's experience there was over the top. First, I was stunned by the transformation of the usual family eatery into a rich, lush, fine dining experience, complete with a real oyster bar and glass wall allowing views into the chef's kitchen. Their recent renovation is a must-see, and their expanded menu rates a second look from seafood lovers who knew them way back when. I was swept away by the flavor and generous portions of wild-caught Alaskan sand dabs, while my husband's fish tacos with sea bass were delicious as well. Our server Zak made every effort to ensure that our meals were especially superb, because I was celebrating my birthday. If you're looking for a seafood experience that will turn a normal meal into a special one, be sure to try King's. It will not disappoint.
We had an amazing lunch in the bar - at the bar. Full menu at the bar and absolutely excellent service. We enjoyed three different types of oysters, clam chowder, and several different seafood dishes. Great fresh selection and many great sides. Loved the seafood cobb, too. Relaxing. Easy to have conversations - not loud. We were there on a Monday - lunch time.
Great experience! The food, service and environment was fantastic. I can't believe we've never been here before.
We stopped by on a Saturday night in January and the place was packed but we were offered a seat on the patio... We took it (my wife, I, our 3-year-old and 9-month-old). It covered patio was well heated and had drapes closing it off from the outside... It was very comfortable and King's offered us a blanket if we needed it.
There food was great and we enjoyed some fantastic oysters, cold seafood sampler, BBQ shrimp and the beet salad... All of which we would order again. Our 3.5 year old son loved the salmon and fries.
Equal to the food, the other thing that floored us was their unbeatable kid friendliness. For example, their kid's menu is several pages of activities (including tattoos) and had a place to get stamps from the lobster/oyster bar... And the dishwasher safe kids cup matched the characters in the in the kids menu. We were floored.
We can't wait to go again.
