Really good food, service and a fun place to eat
This is my absolutely favorite Italian restaurant in East County. My family have been going there since 1982. Very family friendly, party friendly, yet you can go on a date. Great pasta, appetizers, pizzas, and desserts. Family owned and operated. They and the staff are super courteous and helpful.
Best pizza ever. My wife and I have been going here for over 30 years. Crispy crust and lots of toppings. This is no fast food pizza place.
Everything you could ever want in an Italian restaurant. Large portions of delicious traditional and unique entrées. There is a full bar, great staff, and they can accommodate large groups. We usually opt for a nice roomy booth. However, if you want fancy, this is not your place. It could use a refresh of the decor. That being said, this is our go to Italian restaurant.
Went for family/friends gathering for great granddaughter's birthday. Had a blast seeing the other side (grandson's) of the family too. Bongiovanni's has good size banquet room that easily accommodated all of the family and friends. (About 60 or so folks) The antipasto salads were huge and two or more for each table. The staff kept the pizzas coming smoothly and efficiently. The pizzas were terrific. Lots of gooey cheese and other toppings. The. Crust was good and crunchy and they arrived at the tables hot. It is out away from the city, between Lakeside and Alpine but worth the trip. A little hard to see from the highway if you are eastbound on Old Highway 80, because it's on your left and on a small hill. Westbound it is easier to see on your right, because the highway is going from 2000ft towards 1000ft altitude.
