The Alamo Mexican Cafe

Alamo is a wonderful little place in old town San Diego.
Very inexpensive food. Don't let the low prices fool you though, everythimg I've had was tasty.

I've eaten there several times alone and several times with friends.

I also have met there several times with 2 different groups that I either belong to or host. The group I host is a restaurant based dining group, so i/we have dined at many different restaurants in the past 2+ years.

Alamo has taken good care of our groups, thus it is one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Personally, my favorite menu item are the flautas. Less than $6 for a plate of 3. Plenty of food and you can't beat it for the quality, especially at that low price.

Alamo is a very casual, friendly, open air place.

Be aware though that parking in old town can be a bit hard especially on weekends, so allow extra time.

Or take public transportation, old town transit center is about a 5 minute walk from Alamo. You can catch the trolley, the SDMTS buses and the coaster. ????

Tasty, affordable Mexican fare. It isn't the most dazzling or savory, but I can't argue with the flavors and prices.

Good food, decent servings, reasonable prices. Bit of a drive on the inside but it adds to the atmosphere. Daily specials and good happy hour. Tried the Margaret and it was surprisingly good for the price ($3.25) and so was the house Cabarnet red wine at $3.00.
