Dave's Hot Chicken

Very tasty fried chicken sandwich. Be careful on the spices hot is really hot. Even medium has a strong kick. Also eat it hot and right there it's not the same when you bring it home. Only seems like prices have gone up a lot hitting $15 for a fried chicken sandwich meal wow. But to be fair the serving is quite large hard to finish the two sliders in the meal. One of the must try spots in San Diego.

The grim reaper is their spiciest sandwich. They make you sign a waiver beforehand. The chicken is halal here, from what I understood.

In terms of spiciness- it was very spicy (Nashville style) - almost like a powdery red chili on it. Portion sizes were medium. Having it with that creamy sauce helped. Also recommend getting the milkshake with it so it helps temper the heat.

Dave's hot chicken reminded me of raising cane's but it was nothing like that!

If anything it was much better than that, plenty of flavor, the cheese fries weren't tasty(make sure to eat those first), the Cajun flavors street perfect, & the pickles were not too sour! The sauce was perfectly balanced when combined with the food!

Great food.
Probably the finest Halal chicken I've tried in the US.
It is unfortunate that I just knew about it. It will definitely be on my must-visit list when I come to California again.
It had only been the evening of the same day I had lunch there and I already missed it.

The only issue is that the indoor dining tables are very limited.

I've been here several times, but this review is specifically regarding the most recent time I did takeout. It was pretty late at night and I was absolutely starving from not having eaten much throughout the day, and not only did the food deliver, but the service was fantastic. The workers were super friendly, I got my order quickly and accurately, and they even threw in an extra tender free of charge. They also offered me some stickers which was nice.

Anyway, always great food, but I really wanted to share my experience during this last visit, because it left a really good taste in my mouth 😉
