Salsa & Smoke

Loved the Iron Pig Ribs. Best ribs in San Diego. Now they are gone. The brisket was only so-so to begin with, and now that is the main attraction, mediocre brisket in tacos. Did we really need another Mexican place?

I used to come to this restaurant when it was The Iron Pig, and am thrilled to report that while the menu is now Mexican-themed, the brisket is as good as it ever was. My buddy and I had the brisket with mole sauce along with rice and beans, plus four small corn tortillas. The brisket, as I said, was fantastic, and so was the mole sauce. We also had chips and three salsas, and while I think they could have given us a little more salsa, they too were excellent. All told, strongly recommended. Great food and great service. I also chatted with the owner afterward, and she too is very nice.

Went here last weekend and the chile relleno tacos are so worth it! I used to alway get the Iron Pig Alehouse wings, and I'm so happy they kept them! They have different sauces you can get on them, but they're still smoked and fried!. My wife tried the sandia margarita and loved it! My kids also loved all the colorful decor and murals.

We went for their soft open and were VERY impressed with the new spot! We loved Iron Pig before, but I have to say the changes that came with the re-naming and redesign are all for the good. We had their chips/salsa/guac/chicharrones, the chicharrones mac and cheese, but the big winners for me were the smoked wings (we got al pastor style) and the bacon wrapped jalapeno relleno tacos. My advice would be to go and get a bunch of stuff to share with your friends. Didn't try cocktails but we will in the future, they looked great.
