Great vibe and amazing food.
Everything in the menu is very tasty and unique in its flavor!
The new Trout Roe dish was sublime, never imagined I would’ve loved this dish.
It’s a must try.
Do you ever have an experience that just stays with you? For weeks even? The entire evening completely blew us away. We walked up and just took it all in from across the street - lights, chatter, aromas. So inviting! The space is beautiful, romantic and cozy. It's simple but I noticed the details and appreciated it all. It's small but I actually loved that aspect. It felt more exclusive and quaint but not at all pretentious. The food was out of this world. For two of us we ordered 4 different things (we each got the corn soup and I recommend getting your own as well...it's silly delicious) and it was plenty. Amazing wine selection. Our server (Angeline? I hope that's correct) was absolutely everything you want in a server. There but not there. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Timely. Just on point and wonderful. I've already told at least 20 people about this hidden gem in Mission Hills. It's special. Make a plan. Make a reservation, and prepare for an excellent experience. I can't wait to go back again.
Wolf in the Woods is a neighborhood gem tucked away in the residential area of Mission Hills. It is a small, intimate dining experience and feels very European with the closeness of the tables.
We sat inside and had a leisurely dining experience with our food courses to perfection. It is a real treat when the kitchen and the front of the house can time the dishes in such a way that the diner is neither rushed nor full by the time the plates arrive.
The Drysdale Team was here for a dinner with business colleagues that have turned friends and it was honestly perfect for that. Not too loud and the lighting was low and soft.
We loved the charcuterie board as it was well proportioned. Any dish that comes with bread will be well received - we had the steak tartar and it was excellent.
Highly recommend and we will be back!
What a gem in Historic Mission Hills. Came here for a date night making a reservation about a week in advance. The blend of cultures in their wine selection and food selection is unique and I unlike anything I’ve seen in San Diego.
Additionally, the aesthetics are New Mexican and so cozy you feel like you are in someone’s home eating dinner with them.
Favorite dish was the Sweet Corn Soup. Do not miss!
This unique take on European bistro is a really cool experience, and makes for a great date night experience that feels away from the bustle of the city. Nestled in a street side corner, there is both indoor and outdoor seating right on the sidewalk. The service was excellent, and the venue had a relaxed candle-lit feel to it. I would recommend making a reservation if you’re planning on eating here!
For food, we ordered their namesake snack - the wolf in the woods cheese platter, and it was incredible. They curated a great selection of cheeses and crackers/bread to enjoy. I highly recommend this snack. We also ordered Their yellowtail aqua Chile tostada to share. For our entrees, we ordered the duck & three sisters as well as their N.M. Skillet Mini Burger. Both were delicious, the duck was some of the best I’ve had in San Diego, and the burger was incredible. For its small size, the quality and flavor was definitely present. For dessert we ordered the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta. All the food was delicious and well made.
