I was really excited to try this place since it's so close to me and I'm already a huge fan of the Mission Beach location. Food was a 2/5 for me. I ordered a grilled cheese with Mac and cheese and bacon. I feel like they could of put more on the sandwich and the Mac and cheese was hella bland. The customer service was really friendly. I know this is a new location and the employees are probably still learning the menu but for my first experience I wasn't a fan. Hoping as time goes by it gets better!
We attended the soft opening on the 18th of the new Cheesy Express in Santee. After months of reading and admiring the signage, we were excited to hear they’d finally be open! With a grand opening on the 26th, we knew the wait would be well worth it.
Such a spacious conversion from the old donut shop, they’ve really done a great job at creating an efficient kitchen and service area.
We ordered the Zuckerman’s Crunch, Mom’s Classic on wheat, and Italian Delight with a side of Mac and Cheese, and two shakes. Knowing we had hit the dinner time rush during their soft opening, we waited about 10 minutes which wasn’t even that bad at all. The place is packed!
This place produces an amazing grilled cheese product. It must be the types of cheeses they use, because each bite was packed with flavor and melty goodness. The Zuckerman’s Crunch was sooo delicious and packed with a ton of ham and bacon. The mom’s classic was perfect! Cheese in every bite! The Italian delight was exactly as described. Delightful and packed with a ton of flavor.
I’m so happy this place came back to Santee. After having experienced them once before while they were in a gas station… before they headed west for a bigger location, I counted down the days until I could experience them again. For their soft opening, they did such a great job.
