Tommy's Mexican Restaurant

The best tequila/margarita experience I've ever had. I'm from New Zealand and went to this place on a recommendation from another kiwi friend who lives in San Fran, let me just say it was excellent! We had one of the owners (I think) who happened to be giving a presentation to some merchandisers on the same night and they let us sit in as well, such showmanship and hospitality - fresh lime juice with every margarita - great recommendations of tequilas to try as well as the history of the agave plant. You know this place is famous when several bartenders from different areas of the world regaled to us the famously simple, but delicious, margaritas from Tommy's. It’s the tequila that shines when you have only the fresh, subtle ingredients of lime, salt, water, and agave nectar. The restaurant has over a hundred tequilas to choose from, probably more, and the bartenders are there to talk you through the different flavor profiles for your palate. The food was tasty, generous Tex-Mex style Mexican, with unlimited chips and salsa, but we were really there for the margaritas! We visited on a Saturday afternoon at around 4 pm and it was easy to find a seat at the bar. Would definitely visit again!

I love this place. Excellent food, great service, the best margaritas you'll ever find. Also, this is one of the very few places where I order flan for dessert. It's just like the one my grandma taught to make. Highly recommended.

Mexican food at this spot - very tasty. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Prices are decent for the quality. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Kansas City.

One of my favorite places in the world, literally! The food is very good, not what you usually think of when you gi to a Mexican restaurant. The bar is amazing. One of the best tequila selections in the world. I've been visiting this place since 2001. The people that work here are amazing, and the friends I've made with other regulars will keep me coming back for many years to come!
