This place is great! I am absolutely in love with Spanish food, and Alegrias definitely does it very well. We had a whole bunch of classics: tortilla, gambas, pulpo, croquetas, and several others and they were all delicious. The staff is very friendly, there's a family feeling about the place and the ambiance is very inviting. Highly recommend.
A Spanish inspired menu that doesn't really taste Spanish. I found the flavors bland and the quality slightly lacking. The food is decent, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
A decent selection of tapas. Didn’t try the paella this time, but have had it before and it’s good.
The waiter knew his stuff and took time to explain various dishes and answer questions.
The place was quite busy, but the layout and design mean that the noise level is low and it’s possible to have a conversation without shouting at each other.
Delicious, delicious food. The owners, an older Spanish couple, clearly don't get many Black patrons. As my friends and I ate (we were a group of 8 Black women and men) the owner came by repeatedly to "compliment" our zany hair (read natural curly or braided hair), micromanage how we ate the tapas, and to take a photo with my friend who he sweared looked like a Nigerian friend of his (spoiler alert, they looked nothing alike). We could tell it was well-intentioned but man was it uncomfortable. Be better owner! Be better!
The staff is super knowledgeable and made for a great dining experience. Our waiter was happy to explain everything, including the story behind several dishes. Give the paella a try. When we had it, it was delicious!
