I ordered the beef pho with only the rare beef. unlike other pho, this one has distinct beef smell. the noodles were wider than most pho. the meatballs don't have that chewy white part, which I like. The pho tasted to be tailored to a western pallet, which I didn't like. The spring rolls ( I ordered veggie) unlike most places, was lacking in tofu. The sauce that came with it was completely different and creamier than what I have had in the past. It seed to just be a lump of peanut butter. Very dry. the place and service were nice overall. But the pho missed the mark for me.
Came here for dinner after work. They took over the Old Manor Cafe that change to American restaurant that is now Vietnamese. My husband had the coconut curry noodle soup, I had the seafood noodle with white pepper, it was during happy hour so we had salt and pepper chicken wing and the shrimp. It would've been nice if our water glass was refilled.????
Like the fact that we have a Vietnamese restaurant in West Portal. Gives us more choices of cuisine in the area. The actual food itself is not bad, feels more Chinese than Vietnamese. The prices are reasonable, lunch menu a good deal. Too bad they discontinued the three bean dessert. It was my favorite ????.
Great local place on West Portal! My wife and I are vegetarian and we feel we have a lot of choices. Can be busy, but the food is worth the wait, West Portal is just busy like that. Were willing to make food less spicy for me. Definitely worth your time.
